SUMMARY
Unlike other members of the Sacoglossa, Stiliger fuscovittatus has simple rhinophores (McDonald in Carlton (ed), 2007). Body color is white-gray with two reddish-brown stripes beginning on each rhinophore that continue onto the head where they become irregular blotches and spots across the dorsal side of the body. Eyes are at the base of the rhinophores, a protrusion near the right eye holds the penial stylet, and the pericardium is evident in a hump posterior to the head. The brown-green contents of the digestive diverticulum are visible through nearly transparent spindle-shaped cerata that are irregularly sized and distributed along two rows on the dorsal surface of the animal. Cerata have small flecks of brown-red pigment, as found the body, as well as white spherical or tear-drop shaped spots that appear to be imbedded in the tissue of the cerata.
